Valletta Tour
Main visiting places:
- The Parlament of Malta
- The Co-Cathedral of Valletta
- The Upper Barrakka Gardens
The tour will take place every Tuesday at 1100 hrs. As has already been mentioned, the tour will take off under the arcades of the Parliament of Malta. There, you can identify your guide who will be wearing a white hat with a black horizontal stripe.
Prior reservation is necessary as places on the tour are limited to thirty. The form to be completed is a reservation request. All reservations must be validated and confirmed personally by your guide.
The main access to the capital of Malta is pedestrian, so it will not be difficult for you to find the place where we will begin our tour: the arcades of the Parliament of Malta. That is the first building that you will find on the right once you cross the bridge that leads into Valletta.
Knowing the history of a new place can become a mess of dates and names that are soon forgotten. That is not the case of what you will discover during this tour of Valletta.
Our objective will be to bring you closer, in an original and different way, to the 450 years and more of the history of the city chosen as the European Capital of Culture for 2018.
– How did the Knights of the Order of St. John arrive in Malta?
– How did they adapt to a small island with hardly any population, water or farmland?
– Which were the keys to the island’s victory against the Ottomans during the Great Siege?
– How could they build in just five years a fortified city that is nowadays a UNESCO World Heritage Site?
A pleasant walk of about an hour will allow you to have the answers to those questions, and also to enjoy the best views of the city and to discover some of the most emblematic buildings of Valletta.
For this activity – which will be carried out exclusively in English – comfortable footwear and a sufficient water supply are recommended. Clients are also advised to ensure appropriate seasonal clothing which would protect them from the sun in the hotter months and which would shield them from cold and rain during the wintry period.
The form to be completed is a reservation request. All reservations must be validated and confirmed personally by your guide.
These tours are totally free and there is no obligation to effect any kind of prepayment. If at the end of the tour you feel that the work of the guide is worthy of a tip, you will be free to reward the guide’s effort and dedication as you may deem appropriate.
The Valletta tour will take place at 1100 hrs on the following days: November 27; December 4, 11, 18; January 8, 15, 22, 29; February 5, 12, 19, 26.
